Harbin to Host 2001 World Grand Prix Women Volley

Harbin is going to hold the 2001 World Grand Prix Women Volley at the Harbin Institute of Technology scheduled August 17-19. On April 2, an agreement signing ceremony was held for organizing the contest at the institute.

The 2001 World Grand Prix Women Volley is to be held the eighth time with eight teams from China, Cuba, Brazil, ROK, Japan, the US, and two from Europe. Contests will be staged between teams from Cuba, the US and China and winner of European Preliminary at the Harbin Institute of Technology, one of the seven grounds contesting for a US$100,000 prize out of a total of US$1.04 million of grand prix.

The 2001 World Grand Prix Volley is to be the first contest of a single event to be staged in Heilongjiang Province, and the first of its kind to be held on the campus of a university in China.
