Cambodia Preserves National Heritage to Prevent Influx of Foreign Cultures: PM
Prime Minister Hun Sen said Tuesday that Cambodia should preserve and promote its national heritage and civilization in order to prevent influx of foreign cultures at the closing ceremony marking the third National Culture Day.
The premier said that attention should be given to strengthening education and promoting and enriching national culture, and the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts should take the lead in formulating a strategy for cultural development.
He proposed that Cambodia should strengthen the capacity in safeguarding cultural heritage, creativeness of new masterpieces by improving the capacity of producers, crafters and art associations, thus meeting the needs of the domestic and international markets.
The government should attach importance to rehabilitation of cultural infrastructure in the areas with cultural potentials, especially where there have ancient temples, in order to make them attraction sites for cultural tourism.
