Bombardier Becomes China's Largest Feeder Plane Provider

The world's third largest plane producer Bombardier has become China's largest provider of feeder planes after seven local airlines recently signed a contract to buy 35 planes from the company for feeder air transportation.

China's fast economic development has given rise to soaring demand for feeder planes, and the domestic market has actually become bombardier's greatest potential market, said a senior official with the company.

Analysts said that feeder planes only account for one tenth of the total number in service in China, while the proportion usually reaches 30 to 40 percent abroad.

There's a great potential for developing air services between small cities of less than 600 kilometers in distance, they added.

The Canada-based Bombardier is a world leader in production of feeder planes. Currently, there are nearly 1,500 lateral Bombardier planes in service for over 300 airlines in some 90 countries across the globe.
