Land Registry in HK Notably Up in March

Sale and purchase agreements on residential and non-residential building units in Hong Kong has increased evidently in March this year compared with the figures for February 2001 and March 2000, the Land Registry of Hong Kong said Tuesday.

The Land Registry last month received for registration of 11,412 sale and purchase agreements on residential and non-residential building units, representing an increase of 130 percent and 44.5 percent over February 2001 and March 2000 respectively.

The total consideration of these agreements in March 2001 was about 21.3 billion HK dollars (2.73 billion US dollars), up 89.9 percent and 11.6 percent when compared with the previous month and March 2000 respectively.
