Beijing International Fair Opens

The seventh Beijing International Fair (BIF), one of China's largest international trade fairs, opened Tuesday at China International Exhibition Center.

A total of 680 exhibitors from eight countries and regions are participating in the biennial event, the first of which was launched in 1989.

On display in the 26,000-square-meter space are products closely related to the people's daily life including automobiles, electric appliances, furniture, kitchenware, gifts, medical and health care products, arts and crafts and patented technologies.

The four-day event is organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). Present at the opening ceremony were Long Yongtu, chief negotiator of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Ma Yue, vice president of CCPIT and Zhang Mao, vice mayor of Beijing.
