Taiwan' Leading Securities Firm Hopes to Invest in Mainland

News from Taipei said that Taiwan's securities and financial sectors have asked the Taiwan's authorities to relax its control on investment in the mainland.

Ma Chih-lin, chairman of Yuanta Securities, Taiwan's largest securities firm said that it is inevitable for Taiwan's securities and financial sectors to be mainland bound for investment pending China's WTO entry. Yuanta hopes it can be an early beneficiary from developing cooperation with the mainland, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily on March 31.

Ma said that mainland and Taiwan use the same language, it is easy for the two sides to communicate and cooperate. He said that some large cities like Beijing, Shanghai and others are experiencing a rapid economic growth and are getting abreast with Taiwan in competitiveness. Taiwan's future is in the mainland, it is irresistible for Taiwan to invest in the mainland so as to enhance its competitiveness.
