Foreign Residents in Macao to Get Visas to Inland China

The Portuguese who hold permanent identity cards of Macao and have long-term residence in the special administrative region (SAR) will be given visas repeatedly effective in not more than one year to make tours to or visit China's inland areas.

The Office of Commissioner of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in Macao SAR made the announcement Monday.

Similar visas effective in not more than six months will be given to other foreign people who have residential rights in Macao, on condition of not passing the deadline of his or her residential rights.

A spokesman said that this is to strengthen the economic and cultural exchanges between Macao and inland China, and provide convenience for the Portuguese and other foreign people in Macao to make visits or travels, conduct business or go shopping in China's inland areas.
