China to Hold International Health-care Festival

The first China International Health-care Festival in the new century, with the theme of "science, health, tradition and development" will be held in southwest China's Hunan province, which is known as the medicine storehouse.

The festival in October will provide opportunities for Chinese people and their foreign counterparts to exchange ideas in many areas, such as the production and distribution of traditional Chinese medicine.

In recent years, many provinces, including Yunnan, have responded to the western area development strategy. These provinces have made use of their abundant biological resources and promoted health care development with great success.

"The festival will quicken the pace of internationalizing Chinese health care skills through forums and exhibitions," said an official with the festival organizing committee.

Experts pointed out that to modernize Chinese medicine, theory needs to be updated as well as practice. The strategy of resources protection and sustainable development will provide challenges and chances for Chinese medicine.

According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, balanced nutrition lengthens life and vitalizes the body. In a fast pace society, efficient health care products will protect people from illness and reduce medical fees.

Some influential enterprises have appeared in the last few years in China and they are aiming at the international market with the trend of "green consumption".

People began to realize that China could utilize technological skills and provide advanced analysis to further develop health care.
