Henan Reports Largest Population in ChinaAccording to the second bulletin of the fifth nationwide population census announced by the National Bureau of Statistics, Henan Province becomes the largest populated in China for having a population of 92.56 million, followed by Shandong, with a population of 90.79 million. Other provinces with a population exceeding 50 million are:Guangdong, 86.42 million; Sichuan, 83.29 million; Jiangsu , 74.38 million; Hebei, 67.44 million; Hunan, 64.4 million; Hubei, 60.28 million; Anhui, 59.86 million. Compared with the fourth population census conducted in 1990, no new province has been found with a population size exceeding 50 million, except some alterations made in rating. As Chongqing has been set up as a municipality with its population excluded from Sichuan, Sichuan Province has been enabled with a population drop in rating from No.1 to No.4; Jiangsu fell from No.4 to No.5; Anhui, No.8 to No.9. The bulletin also indicates that the most sparsely populated administrative divisions in China are: Tibet Autonomous Region, 2.62 million; Qinghai Province, 5.18 million; Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, 5.62 million; Hainan Province, 7.87 million.
