Macao Airlines to Expand Transport Network

Macao Airlines plans to boost cargo transport business and open more international routes in the coming five years.

The airline has mapped out a plan to alter its current fleet structure, introduce cargo planes and large airliners and develop cargo transport joining hands with other air carriers.

Its new air routes will open first in the southeast Asian region, and extend to Europe and America.

Macao Airlines is also projected to introduce new technology and provide various training for its personnel in the coming years.

The economic recovery in Asia and Macao has become a boon to Macao Airlines, whose business volume doubled that of the previous year to reach 1.44 billion patacas (US$180 million) last year. It had more than 1.2 billion patacas (US$150 million) of assets in total at the end of 2000.
