Tianjin Set "Electronic Port" in Operation

April 1 saw Tianjin formally set the "electronic port system" in motion for the supervision and management of the imports and exports at the port. Currently, there are altogether 1442 foreign trade enterprises qualified for transacting imports and exports by net in Tianjin.

The "electronic port" is a network system for import and export management and service. The system is jointly developed by the General Administration of Customs, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, the State Administration of Taxation, the People's Bank of China, and the State Administration of Exchange Control, etc.

As one of China's four port cities for trial operation of the system, April 1 saw Tianjin to use an outlet of the "electronic port", which is linked up with the General Administration of Customs and the other state organs as mentioned above to realize an effective check and management of the export trade. Thus it can help contain the illicit activities and crimes of counterfeiting, varying and abusing fake paper-made bills to do arbitrage, smuggling and taxation evasion, etc.
