Chinese Skaters Sweep 1,000-meter Golds

Chinese Li Jiajun and Yang Yang (big) won the men's and women's 1,000-meter finals respectively at the 2001 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships on Sunday.

Li, who triumphed in the men's 500-meter on Saturday, clocked 1: 32.034 to win his second gold.

Apolo Anton Ohno of the United States came in second in 1:32. 160, followed by South Korea's Min Ryong with 1:32.269.

In the women's competition, Yang won in 1:45.664, followed by fellow Chinese Wang Chunlu's 1:45.734. Wang won the 500-meter event on Saturday.

Another Chinese, Yang Yang (small), came in third in 1:45.773.
