Shanghai Hosts First Chinese Information Processing Symposium

The First International Symposium on Chinese Information Processing opened Sunday at Shanghai Jiaotong University.

About 150 scholars from China, the United States, Britain, Germany, Canada, Singapore, and Japan are attending the seminar.

During the five-day event, the experts will focus on the prospects and development direction of Chinese information processing in the 21st century.

About 18 renowned experts in the field, including Ni Guangnan, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, will deliver keynote reports at the symposium.

Chinese scientists have been working for many years on a Chinese language-based computer input system, including voice input.
