Foreign Oil Firms Expected to Enter Taiwan Market

Foreign oil firms are expected to make an entry into Taiwan's petroleum market as early as this September, according to reports reaching here from Taipei Sunday.

Exxon-Mobil, one of the largest oil conglomerates in the world, has mapped out plans to establish 10 service stations in northern and central Taiwan initially, in the belief that the market will be opened before long.

An oil official was cited as saying that the local legislation of the petroleum management law is expected to be passed soon before May, paving the way for the entrance of foreign oil conglomerates into the Taiwan market.
