On Friday, several Palestinian self-rule cities witnessed large protests to mark the 25th anniversary of the Land Day commemorating six Israeli Arabs killed by Israeli police during a demonstration against the confiscation of thousands of hectares of Arab-owned land in 1976. Bloody conflicts with Israeli troops took place when Palestinian protesters threw stones and fire bombs at the IDF soldiers. The Israeli troops responded by firing tear-gas bombs, rubber bullets and live ammunitions. So far, more than 430 people, mostly Palestinians, have been killed in the still ongoing Palestinian-Israeli clashes, triggered by the Israeli violation of an Islamic holy site in East Jerusalem last September. |
