Russian Parliament Delegation Visits Poland

Poland is willing to develop steady and neighborly relations with Russia, Polish Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek told visiting Russian State Duma Speaker Gennady Seleznev on Friday.

Buzek, quoted by the local press, said that exchanges between the parliaments of Poland and Russia will considerably enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of politics, economy and culture.

The Russian State Duma leader believed that his visit will promote good and stable relations between the two countries.

On Friday, the Russian lower house leader also met his Polish counterparts -- Senate Speaker Alicja Grzeskowiak and Maciej Plazynski, speaker of the House of Representatives, respectively.

At a press conference, Seleznev said that Poland appears to pursue a new policy in favor of the East, and he believed Russia will be satisfied with and support Poland's policy changes.

On the same day, Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski met Seleznev. Both sides believed that the development of the Poland- Russia relations is in the interests of the two countries and Europe as a whole.

Seleznev began his three-day visit on Friday at the invitation of Plazynski.
