5 Palestinians Killed in West Bank Clashes with Israeli

Five Palestinian youths were killed on March 30 during violent clashes with Israel Defense Forces (IDF) after the noon prayers, according to Palestinian sources.

Four of the victims were killed at Howar crossroads, south of the West Bank city of Nablus, the sources said.

Mohammed Al-Wawi, 21, was killed at the northern entrance to the West Bank city of Ramallah.

More than 20 other Palestinians were wounded, the sources added.

On Friday, several Palestinian self-rule cities witnessed large protests to mark the 25th anniversary of the Land Day commemorating six Israeli Arabs killed by Israeli police during a demonstration against the confiscation of thousands of hectares of Arab-owned land in 1976.

Bloody conflicts with Israeli troops took place when Palestinian protesters threw stones and fire bombs at the IDF soldiers. The Israeli troops responded by firing tear-gas bombs, rubber bullets and live ammunitions.

So far, more than 430 people, mostly Palestinians, have been killed in the still ongoing Palestinian-Israeli clashes, triggered by the Israeli violation of an Islamic holy site in East Jerusalem last September.
