Guangzhou Export Processing Zone Starts Operation
The Guangzhou Export Processing Zone has passed a state technical assessment and begun operation Friday.
The processing zone is one of the 15 state-listed processing centers for exported goods. The zone covers 3.05 sq km on the eastern part of the Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone.
Construction of the processing zone was divided into three phases. The first phase occupied 900,000 sq meters, where a 30 meter wide trunk road, workshops and a customs inspection yard would be built.
Some 100 million yuan has so far been invested into building infrastructure projects and customs facilities in the zone since last April.
