China Mobile Opens Broadband in Jiangxi

China Mobile's first province-level broadband network was launched on March 28 in Jiangxi Province in southern China. It is also the first province-level network that employs MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switch) technology.

China Mobile started the project in November last year. An advanced technology, IP-over-SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy), was applied to the network. With a bandwidth of more than 2.5G to accommodate more than 100 thousand users, the network can provide data, voice, images at a high speed.

Users can connect to the new network by dialing 172. The network offers common services as well as value-added services, including broadband release, Internet phone service and Internet service for WAP users.
