The Ethiopian Foreign Ministry said Thursday that the first meeting between Ethiopia and Eritrea on war compensation is scheduled to be held in May.
The decision was made during the two-day bilateral talks from March 26 to 27 in The Hague, the Netherlands, on the statute governing the Ethiopia-Eritrea Border and Compensation Commission and procedures to settle the disputes between the two countries, according to a statement issued by the Ethiopian government here. Ethiopia and Eritrea had been at war since 1998 till last year, when the two countries signed a peace agreement under the auspices of the Organization of African Unity.
