Chinese, Sudanese Leaders Hold Talks

Chinese, Sudanese Leaders Hold Talks
Vice President Hu Jintao said China and Sudan have maintained good momentum of bilateral relations since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 42 years ago.

Hu made the remarks during talks with visiting Sudanese First Vice President Ali Osman Mohamed Taha Thursday.

He added that Sino-Sudanese relations have withstood the test of time and change, and the two sides have conducted good cooperation in all fields.

China appreciates Sudanese government's one-China stance and its support for China's reunification cause, Hu stressed.

He also expressed gratitude for the support by Sudanese government towards China on the human rights issue, and said that China is ready to improve the relations with Sudan in the new century.

On Sino-Sudanese trade relations, Hu said the trade volume between China and Sudan has increased and the cooperation has expanded in recent years.

He particularly mentioned the successful cooperation between the two countries in the petroleum field, and cited it an example of friendly cooperation among the developing countries.

Hu said that China is ready to expand areas for bilateral cooperation on the basis of equality, mutual benefit and effectiveness.

Taha said the Sudanese government has attached importance to developing relations with China, and thanks China for its support to Sudan's national independence and territorial integrity.

He also expressed gratitude for China's economic and technology assistance toward Sudan, and its reduction of debt owned by the African nation.

Sudan hopes to further its cooperation with China in all fields especially in the area of petroleum, he added.

Taha reaffirmed Sudan's One-China stance, and expressed his appreciation for China's efforts in promoting Sino-African cooperation.

Hu Jintao said the international situation tends to ease on the whole, but hegemonism and power politics still exist, thus peace and development face challenges.

Globalization is bound to intensify, Hu said, adding that economic globalization promotes the world economy, and will widen the gap between the rich and the poor.

The Chinese Vice President urged the developing countries to work together to promote the establishment of a just and reasonable international political and economic order.

He said that China is ready to work with Sudan to improve peace and development of mankind.
