Fire Kills Five in Northeast China
Five people were reported dead in a big fire which occurred during the small hours of Thursday morning in Shenyang city, capital of northeast China's
Liaoning
Province.
Fire fighters said that all five victims suffocated in dense smoke caused by the fire.
The fire broke out at 1:08 am in a residential building in the Tiexi District of Shenyang city. Fire fighters rescued 13 residents trapped by the fire.
More than 60 fire fighters were sent to the scene and put out the fire within one and a half hours.
The decrepit three-story building has a wooden ceiling, sources said.
Investigations into the cause of the accident are continuing.
