2001 Beijing International Fair to Open in April

Dai Kexiang, general manager of China International Exhibition Corporation, declared at a news briefing held Tuesday that the 7th Beijing International Fair (BIF2001) will be held in Beijing International Exhibition Center between April 3 and 6.

The Fair will be sponsored by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and will be undertaken by China International Exhibition Corporation. Officials from a dozen of ministries, commissions and bureaus of the State Council and Beijing municipal government will form the Organization Committee. Shi Guangsheng, minister of MOFTEC, will be the director of the Organization Committee.

Sources say that Beijing International Fair is the only regular comprehensive fair of China. In every odd year there were six fairs that had held so far since 1989. Taking "Cooperation and Development" as its theme, the coming International Fair will have more than 680 domestic and foreign enterprises signed up for over 26,000 square meters of exhibition area. It has ten displaying zones: overseas zone, family automobiles zone, household appliances zone, gift and craft zone, household leisure zone, kitchenware zone, medicines and health products zone, beauty and health zone, fashion shows zone and scientific technology and patents zone.

According to Dai, Beijing International Fair will be held every year for the future.
