P & G, Chinese Organizations Cooperate on Striking Fakes

P & G Company, a leading producer of consumer products in the world, vowed Tuesday to strengthen its cooperation with relevant Chinese government departments to fight against the distribution and manufacturing of counterfeit goods.

William Dobson, vice president of the P & G, said in an interview with Chinese media that the Chinese government has stepped up its efforts to fight against fake products in the market in recent years, stating that his company has been greatly encouraged.

He said that the company's sales have suffered to some extent due to the counterfeit goods in the Chinese market. The company has taken various measures to prevent the sale of fake goods, Dobson noted, adding that it still needs to enhance cooperation with Chinese departments in regards to quality and technological supervision in this endeavor.

He said China is one of the most important markets of consumer products and best investment venues in the world, which is of great attraction to multi-national corporations.

Dobson noted that the business of his company in China, which began 13 years ago, has actually become part of the Chinese economy, adding that P & G wishes to develop a long-term business in China.

He said he believes the investment environment in China will further improve after China enters the World Trade Organization.

The company also held an activity today declaring that it will fully support Beijing's bid to host the Olympics Games in 2008.
