Sino-Japanese Bus Plant Begins Operation

A Sino-Japanese bus company celebrated a successful trial-production as two buses rolled off the assembly line here Wednesday.

Founded in February last year, the Guangzhou Isuzu Bus Co., Ltd was jointly funded by the Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd., Isuzu Motors Ltd. and the Japan Isuzu China Investment Company. The three companies respectively hold stakes of 51 percent, 25 percent and 24 percent shares in the firm.

The bus company cost a total investment of US$30 million, sources said.

The company is designed to produce 1200 deluxe buses a year, and its annual sales revenue and domestic market share are expected to exceed 1.5 billion yuan (US$181 million) and 25 percent respectively, according to the sources.
