China to Launch Public Promotion for Volunteers


Public Good Promotion by Volunteers in Beijing
The Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC) and the China Youth Volunteers' Association (CYVA) has masterminded a public promotion drive for volunteers throughout the country in the form of advertising.

The advertisement series, each lasting 53 seconds, is scheduled to be broadcast on more than 130 television stations including the most influential China Central Television (CCTV).

Lu Yongzheng, CYVA deputy secretary-general, told a press conference here Tuesday that he hopes people from all walks of life would participate in the volunteer activities.

Huayi Brothers Advertising Co. Ltd., co-organizer of the drive, invited many well-known movie directors and film stars, such as Feng Xiaogang, Lu Xuechang, Ge You and Xu Fan, to join the endeavor.

The United Nations designated the year of 2001 as International Volunteer's Year. In response to the U.N. proposal, the Chinese youth organizations has begun to produce the promotion series.
