HK Greets Visitors with Cultural Displays at Airport

Overseas visitors may have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the local cultural scene when they land at Hong Kong International Airport, where a selection of significant cultural artifacts are on display.

According to a Hong Kong SAR's government press release reaching here on Tuesday, those who leave at the airport will also be provided with a chance again to appreciate some of the works of art and local relics before they board the planes.

To further publicize and enhance Hong Kong's cultural image, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) of HKSAR is proud to present an "A Glimpse of Hong Kong's Heritage" Exhibition at Hong Kong International Airport with the support of the Airport Authority.

A total of 34 items of representative heritage objects of Hong Kong are now displayed at five prominent locations in the Departures Hall and Arrivals Hall of the Passenger Terminal at the airport for the enjoyment of the arriving or leaving passengers.

Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Paul Leung Sai-wah, said at the opening ceremony of the exhibition Tuesday that, the LCSD has been committed to providing quality leisure and cultural services commensurate with Hong Kong's development as a world- class city and events capital.

Hong Kong International Airport, a superior hub of transport in Asia, had a turnover rate of 34 million passengers every year and had a daily record of 100,000 passengers.
