Kunming Int'l Tourism Festival Attracts Domestic, Overseas Businessmen

So far, 37 domestic and six overseas enterprises have signed for the upcoming second China Kunming International Tourism Festival scheduled for April 10 to May 10, according to the organizing committee of the fair.

The committee said that during the one-month period, a series of activities featuring the typical history and culture of ethnic groups will be simultaneously staged in 15 prefectures and cities of Yunnan Province, southwest China.

In the provincial capital Kunming city, the major venue of the event, a competition for the image ambassador of Yunnan's tourism, sports meet and artistic performances will be held to fete tourists.

Yunnan harvested 3.4 billion yuan (US$409.6 million) in the first Kunming International Tourism Festival last year. A total of 5.5 million tourists from home and abroad visited the province during the one-month fair.

Yunnan is home to more than 20 ethnic groups, and has many tourist attractions of world and national fame.
