Phony Police Officers Caught in Guiyang

Police officers in Guiyang City, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province, have arrested twelve robbery suspects disguising themselves as policemen in committing crimes.

Holding falsified police ID cards, wearing police uniforms and driving police cars, the phony police officers had committed a string of robberies before being caught.

One day in February, under the pretext of catching gamblers, four suspects searched a teahouse in Guiyang City, extorting 200 yuan from the boss.

A few days later, one gang member was pretending to buy heroin from a drug dealer in front of a department store before other suspects rushed forward to arrest them. The drug dealer was fined 4, 000 yuan.

In early March, they robbed 950 yuan in the same way from another teahouse and arrested four people.

On the evening of March 15, four phony police officers were sending drug-taking suspects to a hospital for urine checks when they encountered real police officers. The suspects were caught red-handed.

Based on their confessions, police officers rounded up all other gang members soon.

The suspects confessed that they had committed a total of eight robberies.

The case is still under further investigation.
