Spring Snow Visits Northeast China City

A large-scale snow-fall has for the third time blanketed this capital city of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.

Statistics from the provincial meteorological station revealed Monday morning that the snow, which started falling on Sunday night and was still falling at press time, is coated about 4 mm deep on the ground. Some eastern areas in the province even saw over 10 mm of snowfall.

The local observatory said that the snow will subside tonight, but several other snowfalls are expected in the near future.

Spring snow is normal in Heilongjiang, and March here always experiences the most frequent snowfalls.

The snow has caused slow traffic in the urban areas and some traffic accidents, but air-flights have not been affected yet.

Excessive snowfall this month will postpone the wheat planting for at least 10 days, bringing negative effects to the local agriculture this year, meteorologists said.
