Japan Prime Minister Mori Visits Father's Grave in Russia

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori set aside the talk and toasts of international diplomacy on Sunday to honor the memory of his father with a visit to a Siberian graveyard containing some of his ashes.

Mori, whose father fought against Russians in World War Two but later came to love their homeland, traveled to this Siberian city for a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin on a territorial row stopping the two nations signing a peace treaty.

Following the talks, Mori, accompanied by Putin, visited the graveyard that holds the ashes of his father, Shigeki.

The Russian presidential envoy in Siberia, Leonid Drazhevsky, on Sunday offered praise for Shigeki's actions during a difficult time.
