The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) established diplomatic ties with New Zealand at the ambassadorial level as of March 26, said a press statement released Monday.
The statement said that being desirous of developing friendly and cooperative relations on the principles of mutual respect for sovereignty, non-interference in the other's internal affairs, equality and mutual benefits, the two countries have decided to establish diplomatic ties.
The establishment of diplomatic relation between the two countries will contribute to deepening of mutual understanding and trusts of the two countries and peoples as well as to the development of bilateral relations in all fields.
New Zealand is the 9th country since the start of this year to set up diplomatic ties with the DPRK.
