Nigeria's leading carrier Nigeria Airways and British Airways have extended their joint flight services agreement on the lucrative Lagos-London route, the Post Express newspaper reported on Sunday.
The extension, which was made at the instance of the Nigerian government, is designed to enable Nigeria Airways operate the summer flights expected to commence early April 2001 alongside other foreign carries.
The government earlier granted British Airways' request to extend the operations to March 25, 2001 to enable Nigeria Airways acquire an aircraft for its own commercial flight on the Lagos- London route before coming to the extension.
The extension of the commercial pact, which became effective in October 1999 and was scheduled to terminate in October 2000, is the second of its kind since the agreement was initiated in 1998.
