China Issues First Regulation on Military Science Research
Jiang Zemin, chairman of the Central Military Commission, recently signed an order on the issue and implementation of "Regulation of Military Science Research of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA)".
With 10 chapters and 42 articles, the regulation is the first basic regulation for military science research.
The regulation stresses the need for military science research that provides theoretical support for the armed forces' modernization drive, and for forward-looking research into issues concerning winning a regional war using modern technology, particularly high-technology.
The regulation was formulated by the Chinese PLA Military Academy of Sciences during the past six years.
