Military Commander Slams Anti-Iran Attempts

An Iranian military commander on Saturday slammed as "unacceptable" attempts of "enemies" to undermine his country's security from within the territories of other states.

"It is unacceptable that enemies of the Islamic system or agents of hypocrites use territories of certain countries to launch attacks on Iran and threaten the security of its borders and people," Commander of the Ground Forces of the Army Nasser Mohammadi Far said.

"Such countries can not be Iran's friends, although Iran extends a message of peace and friendship to all friendly and neighboring countries," the official IRNA news agency quoted Far as saying after an inspection tour to defense and combat installations.

He urged the army to keep vigilant and alert against "mischiefs and plots of Iran's enemies," saying that thousands of kilometers of borderlines and "enemy conspiracies" have prompted the army to raise its combat readiness to bar the "enemies" from having any "covetous eye on even an inch of Iran's territories."

The Iranian army has been "undeterred in fulfilling its missions" since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, he said, adding that thanks to special operation groups of the army, hundreds of mercenaries and border aggressors of the anti-government Mujahideen Khalq Organization (MKO) were killed in the past year.

Iran has accused the MKO of using bases in some countries to wage an "anti-Iran terrorist war."
