Djiboutian President Visits Chongqing

Visiting President Ismail Omar Guelleh of the Republic of Djibouti arrived in this municipality in southwest China Friday afternoon for the second leg of his six- day state visit to China.

During a meeting with Guelleh, Chongqing Mayor Bao Xuding briefed the Djiboutian guests on the city's economic development, the role it plays in China's west development strategy and the Three Gorges Project.

The Mayor said Chongqing will continue to strengthen ties with Djibouti in all sectors including trade and economic cooperation.

Guelleh said he has witnessed China's achievements in its reform and opening up, hoping to explore opportunities and channels for further cooperation with the municipality.

Guelleh's trip will also include sightseeing and visits to two large enterprises, the Chang'an Automobile Company Limited and the Zongshen Motorcycles Corporation. He is scheduled to leave Chongqing for Shenzhen Saturday.
