Beijing Jingkai Technological Undertaking Incubator, the capital city's largest high-tech enterprise incubator, will be set up soon to assist domestic and foreign start-ups.

Located in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA), the incubator will occupy 33 hectares with more than 40,000 square metres of office space.

Initiated by the Beijing Economic Development Investment Co Ltd, the incubator has installed high-speed wide-band Internet lines and an advanced international communication system.

"Taking advantage of BDA's rich technological resources and sound capital introduction environment, it will be a favourable cultivation field for high-tech start-ups,'' said Li Fengling, director with the administrative committee of BDA.

Meanwhile, he said an exhibition for BDA will be held in Beijing at the China International Exhibition Centre's No 8 hall during the China International High-Tech Industries Week, from May 10 to 15.

The exhibition will focus on bio-pharmaceutics, digital technology and information, electronics and new energy resources.

"Most of them are self-explored technologies with intellectual property rights,'' Li said.

Committee figures show that, 817 enterprises involving US$2.7 billion in investment had settled here through the end of last year .

Of those, 222 are foreign-funded companies or joint-ventures.

Twenty-five of the world's top 500 companies, including GE and Nokia , have set up joint ventures or subsidiaries in the BDA.
