China Strives to Protect Wuanwei Ham
Starting today, the well-known brand Xuanwei ham will all be produced in its birthplace, Yunnan Province in southwest China.
The State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision has ratified the local protection of its brand name to further promote specialty development within the nation.
These products will be made from the local raw materials and be manufactured elegantly. They will be named after a series of strict inspections.
The local brand protection system aims to ensure the best quality of the products and forbids others from making it without authorization.
Relevant departments will issue regulations to strengthen the examination of the geological products and fight against the counterfeits to maintain the fame of Xuanwei ham.
The ham, the second protected product in China, tastes crisp, sweet and fragrant, due to the area's unique climate.
