Another Foreign Telecom Firm Sets Up Regional Headquarters in HK

Another leading telecommunications company, the US-based Terayon Communication Systems, has opened its regional headquarters in Hong Kong, citing Hong Kong's strategic location in serving the Asia Pacific Region.

Mike Rowse, Director-General of Investment Promotion of Hong Kong, paid a courtesy visit to the company's new office on Friday.

Terayon Communication Systems is a provider of innovative broadband voice, data and video systems that are deployed by the world's leading cable television and telecommunications companies.

Rowse said that the presence of Terayon and other telecommunications companies in Hong Kong will strengthen Hong Kong's position as a "world-class telecommunications center."

Terayon's Chief Executive Officer, Zaki Rakib, said that Hong Kong was a natural choice for Terayon. "We chose Hong Kong for our Asia Pacific headquarters because of the excellent advantages it offers." he said.

Thanks to Hong Kong's strategic location, the company's Asian customers, especially those in the Chinese mainland, can visit the company very easily by air, land or sea," Rakib said.

"In addition to its good infrastructure and transportation network, we can provide efficient customer support services from Hong Kong," he added.
