Reports on China's Water Policies Published

A seminar was held Thursday on the publishing of the first volume of a collection of reports on China's sustainable development strategy on water resources.

Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao wrote a foreword for the book, which is composed of nine volumes.

Since the 1990s, the issue of water resources has become increasingly eminent in the country as it experiences a series of heavy floods and droughts as well as incidents involving water pollution and environmental pollution.

More than 300 Chinese experts, including 43 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering Science, have participated in a study on the issue of water resources Since 1998.

Song Jian, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the meeting.
