China, Djibouti to Advance Military Cooperation

A senior Chinese military leader said Thursday that China expects to continue to push forward its friendly cooperation with the military forces of Djibouti.

Fu Quanyou, chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), made the remark in a meeting with his Djibouti counterpart Fathi Houssein.

Fu said that China and Djibouti, both developing countries, share wide consensus on many major international issues, adding that the two countries have always supported and cooperated with each other.

Fu, who is also a member of the Central Military Commission, thanked Djibouti government for its consistent adherence to the one-China position and support to China's efforts for reunification.

The military cooperation between the two sides has been satisfactory in recent years, Fu noted.

He said that he believes Fathi Houssein's visit will surely further the friendly cooperation between the two militaries.

Fu also briefed the guest on China's domestic situation and military building.

Fathi Houssein noted that he agrees with Fu that the two countries have been able to support each other. He added that he hopes the two sides will further strengthen their friendly cooperation.
