China Supports Palestinians to Regain Legal National Rights, FM

China will continue to support the Palestinians' struggle to regain their legitimate national rights and interests, said Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan Thursday.

At the request of his Palestinian counterpart Farouk Al Kadoumy, Tang talked with him on the phone, in which Kadoumy briefed Tang on the preparation of the upcoming Arab summit and the latest situation in the conflicts between Palestine and Israel.

Tang congratulated Kadoumy for the upcoming Arab summit, adding that he hopes the summit will further promote the unity and cooperation among Arabian countries and play an important role in maintaining regional peace and stability.

He said the continuous conflicts between Palestine and Israel have not only stagnated the Mideast peace process, but also brought danger to the regional peace and stability.

China supports the peace process and has always maintained that the relevant resolutions of the United Nations on the Mid-East problem and the principle of "land for peace" are the basis for peaceful talks, Tang noted.

He added that a faithful implementation of the agreements already reached is the pre-condition for building mutual trust between Palestine and Israel.

He said the international community has the responsibility and obligation to take further measures to push for substantive results in the peace process.

On bilateral ties, Tang said the Chinese government and people will continue to observe the principles set by Chinese leaders of three generations, support the Palestinians' struggle to get back their legal national rights and interests, and push forward the friendly cooperation between China and Palestine.

Kadoumy, who is also director of the Political Department of the Executive Committee of Palestine Liberation Organization, expressed his thanks for and spoke highly of the support and help of the Palestine people by the Chinese government and leaders.
