China Boosts Cultural Heritage-related ExchangeChina has made successful strides in preserving artifacts and relics from the past that represent China's cultural heritage and exppanded international contacts in this regard over the past three years, said Zhang Xinmiao, vice director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, Wednesday in Hangzhou.When giving a report to officials in charge of local cultural heritage bureaus across the country, the vice director said that China has sent delegates to attend international meetings and are involved in formulating and amending related international instruments. Altogether China has 27 cultural and natural sites listed as Sites of World Heritage, according to Zhang. A series of culture relics exhibitions have been held in the United States, Japan, France, Australia, Argentina and 20 other countries over the past three years. Terra-cotta warriors and horses from the mysterious oriental country fascinated visitors around the world. Statistics show that China has received some 5 million US dollars in international aid toward cultural heritage protection. Local museums have also tried to cooperate with associations outside of the field such as the World Bank. Meanwhile, China has increased its international cooperation in archeology. His administration has approved six projects involving prospecting, investigating, excavating and study, Zhang added. |
