China Developed Biological Cure for AmnesiaChinese medical experts have developed a cure for amnesia using oceanic materials, local sources said recently."The medicine will considerably alleviate the symptoms of Parkinson's disease and amnesia, typical diseases among elderly people," said the general manager of Kanghang Bio-pharmaceutical Company, which is based in China's famous tourist city of Hangzhou. The cure, jointly developed by experts from Hangzhou and Shanghai, is made up of an extraction from sea snakes and trepang, or sea cucumber. It is the firs biological cure for amnesia ever developed in China. The medicine has gone through the evaluation of a high-level experts group and has already been put into mass production. It is expected that the memory-improving medicine will help China's increasing aged population. Currently, senior citizens make up 11 percent of China's population. Statistics show that of the 160,000 oceanic species in the world, some 1,000 can be used for medicinal purposes |
