Donations Urged for Blizzards-hit Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang

The China Charity Federation (CCF) and 10 other local non-governmental organizations Thursday published a joint appeal urging domestic and overseas institutions and individuals to make donations to the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which were devastated by snowstorms in the winter.

According to the latest statistics, in Inner Mongolia, the blizzards affected 1.35 million people and 22.3 million animals, killing 29 people and 300,000 heads of livestock. In Xinjiang, the snowstorms attacked 924,000 people and 17 million heads of livestock, leaving 108,700 animals dead.

Currently, the situation in the affected areas remains critical, causing a widespread shortage of food, animal feed and fuel, while those homeless or living in damaged homes are in urgent need of daily necessities, clothes and medicine.

Earlier, the CCF has made two appeals for donations, and held a series of benefit performances for the same purpose. It plans to sponsor more such performances in April.

Those who want to contact the CCF can call its four hotlines: (8610)66055997/66056012/66083260/66014593

Inner Mongolia Puts One Billion Yuan into Disaster Relief
