Chinese Premier Meets Poland FM
Premier Zhu Rongji said Wednesday that the Chinese government attaches importance to cooperation with Poland in all fields.

He made the remark while meeting with Polish Foreign Minister Wladyslaw Bartoszewski, who arrived here Tuesday for a six-day official visit.

Zhu said Chinese-Polish ties in general saw steady growth after the two countries established diplomatic ties more than five decades ago.

He said that the two countries have looked beyond the difference in ideology, social systems and sense of value so that the long-term friendly and cooperative relationship witnessed new progress in recent years.

Zhu described Poland as an influential nation in central and east Europe and appreciated the country's adherence to the one-China policy.

He expressed the hope that concerted efforts by both sides would further bilateral ties in the new century on the basis of mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit and non-interference in each other's internal affairs.

Bartoszewski said Poland and China have traditional friendship and there is no conflict of fundamental interests between the two countries. Poland admired the achievements made by China in its reform and opening-up and hoped to continue to expand and develop bilateral exchanges and cooperation in all fields, he said.

He reiterated that Poland adheres to the one-China principle on the issue of Taiwan.
