Asia-Interprise Euro-China Macao 2001,an conference to focus on promoting cooperation between Chinese and European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), is scheduled for September 18 to 20 in Macao Special Administrative Region.

The conference is sponsored by Macao Euro-China Entrepreneurs Club (MECEC), a non-official and non-profit-making organization. Cooperation among hardware industries will be the major topic.

The event has won support from five chambers of commerce of national level from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, and Luxembourg, and five regional organizations from Belgium, Germany, Greece, Italy and Spain. Each of them guaranteed the minimum participation of 10 to 30 local companies to Macao for the meeting.

The MECEC will select highly-qualified SMEs from target sectors in inland China, Macao, Hong Kong and Taiwan to attend the meeting.

The sponsor expects substantial opportunities for the Chinese and European firms to start cooperation on production, trade, marketing, technical know-how and investment.

Club authorities note that the event will enhance Macao's bridging role between SMEs from Europe and China, and increase Macao's reputation in Europe.
