Beijing Mayor Welcome Overseas Investment in Urban Construction

Liu Qi, mayor of Beijing, met Wednesday with Michel Derbesse, president of the France-based Bouygues Group.

Liu said that Beijing welcomes participation by overseas companies in its urban development, as it is now launching a series of projects to build more subways, highways and sewage treatment plants.

In order to attract more overseas investors, the Beijing Municipal Government has come up with a series of favorable policies and simplified the procedure for project approval, Liu said.

Liu expressed the hope that Bouygues would enhance cooperation with Beijing in accelerating its urban development.

Derbesse said that Bouygues has a strong interest in the projects and will cooperate with Beijing in building subways and sewage treatment plants.

The Bouygues Group is a multinational involved in urban construction, railroad engineering and real estate development.
