Qualified China-made Nickel-hydrogen Battery Only up to 68.8 PercentThe China State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision made a spot check on the quality of mobile phone batteries in the first quarter of 2001. Altogether 30 products from 30 enterprises of nine provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions received this spot check and about 83.3 percent products were qualified. Though the qualifying percentage of the whole is relatively high, the quality of nickel-hydrogen batteries remains poor.As known to all, the current common batteries for mobile phone include the nickel-hydrogen and lithium batteries. The qualified rate of nickel-hydrogen battery is only 68.8 percent. The products are unqualified mainly due to rated capability, discharging performance, and security quality. By this criterion, the quality of China-made nickel-hydrogen battery still has a long way to go to catch up with the foreign products. But all lithium battery has passed the spot check yet the electric core used in China-made lithium battery is, as reported, mostly purchased from foreign manufacturers. And as checked, the mobile phone battery also has such problems as lack of production marks, no marks of anodes and cathodes and dates of production, etc. By PD Online staff member Huang Ying
