Foot-and-Mouth Disease Found in Mongolia's Capital

Foot-and-mouth disease continued to spread in Mongolia and new cases were found in Ulan Bator, said Miegombyn Enkhbold, mayor of the Mongolian capital, Tuesday.

At a press conference, Enkhbold said that 14 heads of cattle in Chingeltai district of the capital were found dead and their symptoms are the same as foot-and-mouth disease. The government thus declared the district under quarantine and all animals, people and vehicles were banned to pass through the area.

Enkhbold also said that all of the livestock in Ulan Bator will be vaccinated in recent days.

Many cases of foot-and-mouth disease were found in three eastern provinces in Mongolia, including Sukhbaatar, Dornod and Hentii in January this year.
